    • Nitro Engine Powered Monster Trucks FAQ

    Engine Powered Ready to Run Models are powered by a Fuel called Nitro Methanol mixed with a synthetic oil. It is a highly flamable liquid that should be treated as neat petrol. ie no naked flames, and stored away from sunlight in a cool enviroment. It comes in differnent Grades - reffered to as %

    10% fuel is the perfect choice for most Ready to Run Nitro Models - We include 1L of fuel with all our RTR Models this will give approx 1hour of running time (depends on model). You will then need to purchase fuel from either your local model shop or we can courier this to you at a cost of £8.10 to UK Mainland only not including the cost of the fuel PLEASE CLICK HERE FOR MORE.  16% fuel gives a higher performance at the cost of a reduced engine life and higher fuel compsumption. The Fuel we supply is call Quickfire and is designed to be used in RC Cars and Trucks.   Quickfire is the only fuel for RC Cars we supply WE DO NOT RECCOMEND THE USE OF ANY FUEL GRADE ABOVE 16%

    To Ignite the Fuel you will need a Glow plug - This is a small plug that is screwed into the engine and when either power from a glow starter or the heat from the engine is applied will glow a bright orange and provide ignition to the fuel.  The glow plugs are a disposable item and are the most common reason for a engine not starting. A glow plug will last approx 3 hours of use but this is vairable IT WILL “Burn out” and this will cause the engine not to start - we include a Glow Plug, a rechargeable glow starter with charger and a spanner to remove the glow plug with the RTR models

    Most engines are started with the use of a Recoil pull starter- This is a small T handle attached to a string that when pulled turns the engine over - IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU DO NOT PULL THE PULL START TO THE END OF ITS TRAVEL - YOU WILL DISLODGE THE STRING FROM THE MECHANAISUM _ USE SHORT SHARP PULLS TO START YOUR ENGINE

    To Start the engine we suggest you follow the reccomndation in the Manual for you model however we have a few tips here. PLease remember you can contact our Tech support Department for help advice and guidence- We employ Staff to help you and answer questions PLEASE USE IT call 01274 355801

    OK Now to the Trucks and A few tips to help you choose

    Our Range of Monster trucks have been chosen for their Reliability, Quality of build, Ease of Starting, Maintenance, and Avalibility of spares - At RChobby we will not sell models that donot meet this.     Nitro Trucks Fall into 3 main Bands

    2 wheel drive Sport or Stadium Trucks - theese are developments of off road buggies - the are 2 wheel drive to the rear wheels. As a first truck they are a perfect choice been simpler and lighter the tend to have a higher top speed. They dont have as much ground clearence as the larger trucks but are perfectly suited to Short grass, sand and dirt tracks.

    The DT 10 is a great entry truck you have the option of a Monster Beatle or Truck style body. The are powered by a excellent .15 size engine and have a top speed of around 40mph spares alow cost and available from our webstore

    The Xcellerator is the higher performance Stadium Truck - Powered by the .18 Force engine it is a vary fast model with almost competion spec hadeling and grip. It is not as rugged as the DT10 Chassis

    Lossi XXX NT - This is really a full competition truck which comes as a ready to run. Handeling, Acceleration and Performance are amazing - the model comes witha Computer radio set and with many upgrades availble

    1/10 Scale Monster Trucks - This is the full blown moster truck - you have 4 wheel drive with plenty of ground clearence some even have reverse!. This type of model is ideal for rough terrain, the rougher the better Top speed is not as high as the Stadium trucks however they will climb, jump and stand lots of smashes

    Kyosho Megaforce - This is a Ready to Run Model fitted with a electric start and reverse Its a very good model, well made and fitted with a excellent engine - The Electric start mechanisum works very well but bear in mind if it fails then it is more complicated to repair top speed around 30mph

    SSK My personal favourite the model is based on the excellent SSB buggy its very well made with excellent acceleration. A good rugged model that takes allot of abuse

    !/8th Scale Monster Trucks - these are the daddy of the rc truck world most manufactures spend more money and time developing this are of RC models . They go from simple to Monsters! They have vast ground clearence amazing suspension and the ability to just about go anyhwere and get their fast

    Magic Wheels Heat- This is a good choice for a entry 1/8 RTR level truck - its powered by a Force .15 engine which gives reasonable performance. Its very tough and simple to maintain

    MTA4 - Thunder Tiger top of the Range Ready to Run - A big truck fitted with 2 speed transmission and Reverse loads of cleaence and good acceleration

    GS Storm Unlimited - Deffinatlet the most attractive body fitted to any truck the finish is beautifull
