Land Yachts

‘I’ve had a interest in Land yachts since a watched a documentery on Discovery. I’ve been in contact with manufactures around the world and have tested quite a few models out. Most arn’t really suitable for our weather and lack of massive salt flats etc. Anyway I believe that I’ve found one that is Perfect. I’ve been racing the yacht around the carpark at the back of our warehouse and its superbly nimble and very fast (even beating 1/10 scale Tamiya electric cars)

Assembly is a breeze.  We’ve written the instructions to suit a total novice to modelleing. A video will be available on line shortly. I’m hoping to start up a racing championship using totally standard models and run on beaches around the UK (Unlike the americans eveyone in blighty is near the seaside). Standard Components: The Yacht comes with a main body tube that is machined and drilled for servo and hardware installation. Kits include a custom molded front bumper for servo and wheel assembly protection. A formed, machined and drilled foil-shaped aluminum rear cross beam, two piece aluminum mast with connector pins, fully assembled mylar sail and a fiberglass boom. Also included are 3 wheels with mounting hardware, bearings and steering connectors as well as a custom designed sheeting-servo cover that keeps the sail sheet line on the drum. All connectors, fasteners, lines and miscellaneous parts are included.

Dimensions: 51" wide, 43 ¾" long, 6.5 sq. ft. sail area, weight 3.75 lbs (with full body 4.25 lbs)

The optional bodyshell is supplied clear and is painted on the inside with lexan paints

For braking you just turn and loose the wind.

You will have spills and crashes although I would be very very surprised if you manged to break anything. We are carrying full spares plus a good range of different sails and options.

Whats the handling like? Whats it like to drive?

It’s not like a radio control car or like a radio controlled yacht. The first thing you notice is that it rockets away. As soon as the wind (and it only needs to be a light wind) gets in the sail then its off. The model turns like nothing else.  You quickly learn to work with the wind and corner on 2 wheels.

She picks up speed and on a fairly calm day with full sails you can reach up to 40mph in no time.
