The Mosquito, like a number of other superb aircraft, was born of private venture not a government specification. The De Havilland company decided to take out all that was thought unnecessary in the way of defensive armament and protection when they designed the Mosquito. The weight saving and superbly streamlined design would increase the speed so much that defence would not be necessary; nothing would catch the Mosquito. How right they were. The model is fast too relying on 2 x 40 power. We have flown it with two outrunner motors equally successfully. Constructed using a glass fibre fuselage and wing centre section with built up outer wing panels. All parts are spray painted to give the camouflage pattern finish. |
