Welcome to the ULTIMATE MODEL SAILING DINGHY.

The boat is a quarter scale Musto Performance Skiff, the pinnacle of high performance racing dinghies. It produces a model with a hull length of 1138mm and a beam of 337mm.

The hull and deck lines are as per the fullsize having been produced from drawings kindly supplied by the designer Dr. Joachim Harpprecht.

Minor modifications to the racks have been incorporated to enhance the righting abilities.

The boat, unlike all other model yachts, carries no keel weight. The complete boat ready to sail only weighs about the same as the lead attached to the keel of a similar sized conventional model yacht, providing obvious performance advantages. The boat is fully powered up in light winds.

Using a unique mechanism combining rotational and linear motion the ballasted crewman has a range of movement which allows him to balance the boat on all points of sailing.

The movement is mainly rotational about the central position allowing the crewman to sit around the stern when broad reaching or running downwind, this plus the reduced weight and drag promoting planing.

Further movement becomes progressively more linear, further forward and at right angles to the centreline of the boat, allowing accurate positioning to balance the sideways forces on the sail, when sailing into wind etc.

This action combined with the crewmans buoyancy is also used to right the boat following a capsize.

The model is very agile, it moves effortlessly across the water, accelerates quickly in any gusts and planes on downwind runs almost taking off in the right conditions.

It is easy to learn to sail in light airs, requires skill to sail well in stronger winds but above all is great fun. If you are looking for high speed entertainment, look no further
